coming back to issue of SE low profit margin compare to the industrial avg. this profit margin will be further squeezed in the coming quarters as the price war started by Nokia would likely to continue.
Most of SE models price have been reduced a lot since the price war and this put more pressure on profit. Given that there is still no new model announcement from SE, the only models left that can bring in better margin are the S700 and P910. Maybe that is why S700 is priced sky-high. But this strategy can back-fired as people will be put off from buying during this most important quarter. Moreover, the S700 will face stiff competition from the Nokia 6260 and 6630 which have just been released.
so is SE depending on one model S700 to see it thru (like it did with T610)? Will SE be so lucky this time?

Actually I’m not a SE fan at all, I like to change mobile phones, and for last three years I had something near 30 phones (but recently I’m giving up this habit – it takes too much money), but I was testing and trying a lot more. I was using a Nokia 8910i, and I thing it is the only good phone from Nokia (but it also has a awful bugs), I also had a T610 for something about a two months, my last phone was NEC N341i, but it was stolen and in the context of waiting for something big, I bought Siemens SL55 (black). It was two months ago, and now I’m going to buy a Haier P7 (when it is available) or may be S700/V800. So the idea of this text above is that I’m not blind, because I’m not a SE fan but I truly see what’s happening, and I do see that SE makes very good phones, and I do believe that they will stay, and moreover they will rise above the others.

4 sure, SE needs 2 work on marketing.Here in Nigeria, nokia, lg, samsung & moto ads are all over tv & d papers.Neva seen a SE ad once.But in my experience using 19 phones in 3 years & playing with others, SE phones give best value 4 money.Just my opinion, of course.

@bart aslong my oldies fits my needs i dont worry. T630 served me well, gonna use it again if it is. But i do agree on some way with u, that se should start make real thoughts which way of design, batts and new features to go. We ll see.

V800 is nice, but its only for vodaphone, and the none vodaphone one could look abit diffirent, cause the V800 has got 3 extra buttons.
S700: SO505i was a good idea in japan i strongly agree, bringing it to europe was ok, not great but ok and expected, but the price, its just the same as in japan, but we don't want to pay as much. and why only silver (and black on the S710), we like colors as much as our japanese friends do.
and i can't really say that i like any of the new SE phones even since the K700 (so thats also F500,K50x,S700,V800,Z500,J200). only the T230 i like, because its a new styled T230, a phone that sold good and is reliable. but maby its the way SE wants to go, then i think our roads will split in 2 monhts.
its sad after all that time, after all the things i did, all wasted for nothing, not even an official thank you note from SE. oh well i better keep my farewell speech waiting for 2 months.
meanwhile i'll continue promoting them as good as i can.
oyea SE is indeed getting less profit from its sold phones, but they just bought 2 extra factories, so production cost will be less.

@bart its hard to say, where se is going to in the next future. According your fears, i hope wont be just one of the brands on the market, instead of it a leading one. The mob entered in a new era, se should use the traditions and knowledge given by the swedens, put it together with the multi media fun features given by the japanese and only that way can they reach a good position and honour at users, operators etc /// is a phrase, se could be one aswell. The future meats the past in the present in se imo.

We're passing throug difficult times on the mobile industry, and SE is doing the best they can to maintain leadership an the market.
Sometimes we don´t agree with what they do, but others we're more than pleased. I think SE needs more feedback from it users (hope some director from SE read posts in esato), and more agressive marketing campaings.

Oh for crying out loud! With respect I think you need to be a little less melodramatic. What exactly is it you want from SE? A medal? A rosette? Perhaps a mention in their staff newsletter.

I guess he's just over-reacting :) But, its clear we all expected more from SE and are just not getting it. Ericsson had great phones, and sony had some stuff too.Wonder where d union lost d ability 2 put out something catchy and then present it so everyone wants a piece.
