You could move to Longyearbyen on Svalbard (Spitsbergen). It is one of the northernmost communities in the world, originally a coal mining town but nowadays tourism and science also is a part of the society.
The nature there is breathtaking, I know, because I have lived there for one year, as a student in Arctic Geology. If you want to see how it looks, go to

One example from my site:
I really long to return there. The best time of the year is the long dark season! 78 degrees north and still an acceptable climate. This should be something different for an American!
