Hello everyone!
I'm planning to buy a second hand T39, and I want to know what details and indicators I should pay attention to. I haven't seen the phone, and the seller only told me that everything is ok with it. I don't want to get fooled, of course, but it's really cheap, and.... it's hard to get one, so I wanna have it
Any help is appreciated.

Go for the service tests by typing >*
Try to clean your simcard and/or sim connectors at the back with a rubber eraser gently (as if you were erasing a pencil print), you could do the same with the battery terminals, then reinsert your simcard & power on and do the ### again. If it still says "network problem", the transceiver of the phone is malfunctioning or anything associated with the phone's network search.
Hope this helps...Good luck

Insert sim and turn on the phone. If the RF-IC is bad, you will get a network failure. There is no need to do anything more to check network reception. Contact problems at battery or simcard don't affect the network.
@Ivan:
- Network failure (if signal is strong and stays solid everything is OK. Bend the phone a little bit to check if all solderings on the board are still alright)
- Microphone cable (go with >*
- I/O-converter IC: choose speaker test from the service menu and press each number on the keypad to check if speaker sounds. If some tones are missing or not clean: forget the phone
- Check if the antenna socket is still strong. If the antenna moves you might have network problems in the future since bad contact forces the dead of the PA (RF Power Amplifier).
These are the most common problems with T39. There are a lot more possible failures but it would take too much time to list them all. If you check any of the points inside the service menu and you're able to do a phone call you can be 99% sure that the phone is alright.
The only problem you might not find in a short while: If the VC (Voltage Controller) is damaged, the battery will last only two days instead of average 7 to 8 days. Make an arrangement that you can bring it back if the VC is broken.

However, these are quite funny toys but due to their condition I'd rather leave them inside the display. I almost forgot that another phone arrived yesterday: I've been able to shot a R380 WORLD in unused condition at bey.co.uk for 4.99 GBP! Unfortunately it came "boxed" with everything but the box wasn't printed at all. Only a grey box without inlay, stamped with R380 WORLD.

@rosewhite - NICE pics ! I actually have that very same - T68/i you posted . . . bought a second-hand mid last year and had all the covers replaced + the battery (all original) . . . the only thing left is the BOARD . . . I am gettin' a straight-swap offer with an old Ericsson R380 with my T68i (just like the one you've posted on this page) . . . . is it worth it

I really like the TOUCH-SCREEN feature on the R380 (what else can I do with it . . . it has a map locator-right?) Can I compose my TEXT message on the touch-screen (flip-open) ?
@bleurdeur - Your thoughts on my query on the above - please . . . thanks!
