Same here. Shortcuts are good if you can remember them.

On my N70 I have 8 standard shortcuts (5 for joypad, 2 for softkeys and 1 for multimedia key).

With s60, you can also rearrange the apps in main/sub menu. So putting widely use apps in the first 9 positions, you have another 9. (i.e. press menu+number key to access)

With 3 rd party app, I also can assign another 9 shortcuts to numeric key in standby screen (press "edit"+number key to access).

That's a staggering 26 shortcuts to remember.

Too many. I put anything I want regular quick access to into the Shortcut menu (one joystick movement away from standby). Calculator, file manager and message inbox are assigned to the other three joystick directions.

I've also changed the menu with far manager, but that's cheating! Non-original doesn't count in this thread.

@max, non-original does count. Since in Series 40/60 can be configured on the Active Standby as well as in the main menu in S60 ... shortcuts are nOt the best. S60 allows for creating new menus' that DONT always work with number keypad shortcuts. The more apps in S60 - even in customized folders is going to be a pain. that SHORTCUT folder by default in S60 blows you cannot ADD your installed apps as shortcuts; at least in 2nd Edition.

Furthermore, UIQ3 should & already does have a HARD screen implementation that I'm dying to see in SE or if Motorola decides to use it; but they wont. As for other manufacturer's Samsung just might, their not set with WindowsMobile completely.

java already is becoming very mature - multitasking, access to file system and hardware, acess to interent, you name it Java probably has it now.

RE: menu's, I count FAR manager file system menu tweaking as cheating since the average user won't use far amanger and you can kill your phone with it quite easily and I don't think SE would sanction it's use (not that that will stop me)
