Has the hairline crack actually caused any problems for other people on this thread? My down navigation button now only works intermittently, and I was alerted to this thread when I posted about my problem yesterday. I've now noticed I have the same crack so feel that the problems must be linked.

Hey Jas,
Despite the several months old crack, the button still works well on my W850i. But, then again, I'm not a heavy d-pad user, most of all, I don't play games a lot.
Cheers.

Seriously this is a real problem!
I really wanted to buy this mobile but now 2 problems there ,NO AF and this D-Pad Crack...
I really feel bad about the crack thing which has stopped me from buying w850 , i would have lived without AF , but now crack problem!
It really is a big problem , they invented such a nice mobile set and then didn't even use some good quality d-pad , then they call this mobile their flagship ! lol , it doesn't even have autofocus and they call it there flagship , if they really want the set to be there flagship then why not just spent a bit more money on buying a good plastic

That's a very tiny scratch
Better buy the black version, you can't notice it on it

my has developed a crack after approx 7 months of use. it is hairline and not noticeable until you actually press the plastic down. they dpad works fine though. I suspect the crack developed when putting the phone in my back pocket.

Hi W850 users, I read on gsmarena.com, under the user opinions for the w850, that the models of the w850 manufactured in 2006 are the ones prone to develop a crack on the d-pad. Don't know how true it is, but it is also said that the ones manufactured in 2007 are the improved ones, so hopefully they won't crack. You can check that by removing the battery and looking for something similar to this: 07w16 which stands for: Manufactured in week 16 of year 2007, which is the time mine was manufactured. I've had it for a month now only and I use it alot and no crack has formed yet. I hope it doesn't, coz I love this phone really. Anyway hope it helps, don't know if anyone else here has posted something similar to this, but if so then please forgive me.
