Also don't forget one's preferences. A colleague from work noticed my P990. He was interested in it but also in N95. He wanted my opinion. I asked him what he really wants from a phone and his answer was video recording on the first place and then other smartphone features. Without hesitation I told him to go for N95 because of its 640*480 video recording capability.
Another friend of mine didn't want to hear about non touch screen-qwerty phone/pda so he bought P990. IMO both made correct decision as both are happy with their choices.

Hi all,

It really does appear that when some of you read you only see what you want and like to and very conveniently ignore all and any of the factors that just don't support your case.

Again i will say the N95 is a MULTI MEDIA Smart Phone and has been on the market for a short while already and yes in a perfect world it would of been great for it to of had an extra 64mb Ram. But it is still able to perform better than the UIQ3 devices RAM management wise same as my N93 did and as does my E61. But comparing the the N95 with the P1 is not correct but then you don't want to compare it with the E90 as it no contest is it!

Yeah right Ares SE have announced a device with 128mb Ram they still haven't launched it yet though and I'd guess the E90 appears before the P1 and it has the same need for the extra RAM no one has said any different have they as we all know this is partly down to using Symbian in it's latest incarnations and how ever long it took Nokia to announce a device with 128mb Ram it was quicker then SE so exactly what is your point.

At least the E90 is loaded to the brim with tech whilst the P1 RAM aside is still using all the old stuff from the UIQ3 devices. The P1 only fixes the major problems in the previous UIQ3 devices it is a patch job and how UIQ3 should of been when launched it really is no great leap forward in terms of tech nearly a year later.

What is really funny is if as expected SE do announce some new devices with HSDPA, VOIP and some new processors all of a sudden they will all be great and important with added value the only reason some of you pretend they are not is because currently SE aren't giving them to you and that's hypocrisy at it's worst.

@Koto why are you comparing the N95 with the P1 why not it's true competition the E90 and why is it OK for you to boast the superb 80mb free Ram on the P1 but not the E90. These 2 devices are business smart phones and compete in the same sectors or at least are meant to.

The proof for this is very simple i have never seen any smart phone reach No1 in the sales charts but the N95 did which shows it is viewed as a Multi Media device first and foremost and as i said it is still able to perform business tasks more than well enough for most.

I am currently trying to buy a N95 so i can see for myself what it is like and will report my findings honestly good or bad. But it will only take over my Multi media activities the business type applications will still be handled by my E61 because it is better suited for those tasks due to it's excellent qwerty so just make more sense to me.

Koto as for me hating SE why are you again raising this piece of rubbish yet again i have explained to you many times this is not so and guarantee you there are hardly any on this Forum that have owned or worked with the same amount of Ericsson or SE devices or supported Ericsson in the market place so please stop talking rubbish.

Why must i hate SE just because i dare point out their shortcomings, why do you and others all not just admit the reality as it really is not disputable SE as yet are not engaging and fitting the new technologies in their devices this is not an opinion it is a fact and if it isn't show which devices i have missed that do, but of course you can't because currently there aren't any it's as simple as that hope fully there will be soon though.

Marc

1) 3.2mp might not be of printable quality for a Nokia, but it sure is for SE, I haven't had a dedicated camera since the days of my 1.3mp S700, that was almost if not 4 years ago and even then it was printable, took & printed so many wonderful shots of my baby daughter with it. Before that I had a Kodak 3.2mp camera. I went to France and shot 2200+ pics with my P990, perfectly printable, my family, friends & colleagues couldn't believe they were shot from a phone.
2) By open 'platform', I meant Symbian. Most people I know don't even know what the heck that is and it's quite funny how quick we are at demanding more. SE, HSDPA please!

@Mode,

Gotcha mate. Personally, they could take all cameras off phones. While working in Kuwait, I was not allowed to bring a phone with a camera in to the secure areas. This and the fact that the M600i turned out to be crap prompted me into getting the E61 and I learned to live without a camera. For photos I use my D80. I have used the camera on my N95 maybe a few times.

@Goldenface

I will get back to you in a few. Having lunch with a Nokia friend. Trying to get info about what is coming up.

Important question:

Is anyone here angry or hateful towards any poster in this thread? I am asking because threads seem to get closed down if they become heated. I don't want this thread closed but I like the debate. We can all agree to disagree and be passionate about it. Personally, I am not angry or hateful to anyone here and would gladly have a meal or a drink with anyone here.

So Masseur, please do not close this thread.

1. We were talking about P1 and N95 not other UIQ devices.

2. It is the name of the thread.
If you carefully read my posts you would see that regarding multitasking and ram amount I put E90 on the first place and than P1. E90 is even grater beast but again its size (gratest advantage of P1 for me) doesn't fit my expectation and there is no touch screen.

3. Fair enough. IMO N95 is a great phone.

4. Because your posts are extremely
subjective. As a big mobile technology expert I consider you are I expected much more objective comment regarding this discussion. OK you cleared out the technical advantage of N95, and that is fine. But instead of a normal objective comment about P1 80mb of free ram for usage, which I personally think is great, you started to talk about P990 and make funny of my satisfaction with it. When it comes to criticising SE you are the first and when something good should be said about it you are nowhere.

@saporababy

The thread and discussion is absolutely fine with me. You made some very nice points and personally I don't care about so called winning or losing as there is no such thing here IMHO.
