And is much bigger than the P1 with a battery twice the capacity. Which proves my point.
Anyway, no one knows for certain what spec CPU the iphone has yet.

IPHONE CPU : ARM 620Mhz
Details :
-ARM1176JZF chip with TrustZone (enables trusted computing environment for media, apps, network, OS, etc. -- very bad for hackers)
-Can vary in clock speed up to 700MHz or more, depending on implementation.
-ARM Intelligent Energy Manager (claimed to reduce power consumption 25-50% in portables)
-16K / 16K cache
-Features vector floating point coprocessor ("for embedded 3D-graphics")
-ARM Jazelle enabled for embedded Java execution !!
-SIMD, high perf integer CPU (8-stage pipeline, 675 Dhrystone, 2.1 MIPS)
-0.45 mW/MHz power draw (with cache)

Which is great, the p1 and indeed most UIQ devices just don't need a 620mhz processor. Again, I ask, what would you use it for?
If a 208mhz (or 180mhz depending where you look) processor can make my p1 as responsive as it is then I'm happy with it.
Myself, i'd rather have a slower CPU and longer battery life.

So.. a silly label on perfectly ordinary functions, a cpu probably running at half or less than half of the speed it's capable of all the time, while it's very likely not capable of going past that anyway due to limitations on the low- powered ram. And an ordinary processor with an extended instruction set (which all of them have), but no hardware java emulation, even though it's (!!)embedded(!!) in the system.
But(!!) it's(!) awesome! Really!
...sheesh.

If P3 could have Imageon GPU instead of PowerVR then i wont yearn for a faster CPU! 208Mhz is enough for me, it's just the decoding of that graphics and video that matters most. and the support for a higher MP resolution so that i could open a 12MP picture and watch XGA/HD video right on my cellphone

i am hoping for a Sony sound DSP integrated on that futuristic phone as well

No, I just don't like silly gimmicky crap.
...allright, you got me. But I mean, how do they justify it? The only way to get any use out of the phone is to "hack" it, in ways that 1. removes the warranty, and 2. thwart Apple's intentions to bind the phone to a specific provider. And even if you do that, noone can make any programs for it, or customise the content, or add functionality in any way without the developer tools.
So what you really have is a sleek looking phone, with a huge screen, with perfectly decent hardware compared to the rest - that's just locked down and limited by all the tricks in the book, while just not giving anyone except telecompanies any weight when program solutions are to be designed. Neither will there ever be a toolkit for the phone. It doesn't even have connectivity options outside specific programs, even though the transfer itself does not depend on proprietary software. I mean, really.
Which means it's basically a long step back to the day when your only option for mobile content was decided by your phone- provider, and which you would be precluded from ever customising on your own. Except - you're not limited physically, like on a phone without an external cable that only could connect through the service- provider's technology - you're limited by proprietary software and a conscious choice from Apple to not have external and removable storage- options other than their own (severely limited) ones.
And you know, that does not deserve praise, in my opinion, in the form of "revolutionary new phone".
..But, I mean, at least it's shiny. (Let noone say I'm not being fair here.)
