Looks like a rocker keyboard to me... assuming it's real, this looks more like P1 meets the P910 than anything in the middle...

As a P Series veteran... I have to say I was a diehard Flip fan until I got annoyed with the P990 and tried the M600... Because of the reasons given by Boing I never looked back and much prefer the whole setup (I would have sworn blind that I wouldnt even go there prior to actually taking the plunge so thanks crap P990!).
Personally, I feel that the benefit of having the Flip is that you can then have a larger touchscreen underneath...
Those two blurry pics of the possible P3 are very interesting... I would love to have the old Flip style but with the rocker Qwerty on it if I could then have a larger touchscreen! That would be great...
Wonder what those three buttons are... It would be great to have the two on each side similar to the on screen softkeys on the P1 and then the middle one a roller similar to the old Nokia 7110 so it could act like the middle softkey with a press, but then could be used for scrolling etc... Would make for very easy one handed operation I think...

The flip-off picture is very intriguing, since it appears to be all screen underneath - but it's much longer than the normal UIQ3 layout. It's almost as if the new "flip closed" mode is moving to standard UIQ3 as we know it on the P1 etc, but "flip open" is becoming something else entirely...
And what's with those three green lights at the bottom of the screen? And isn't it interesting that they, and some random symbols on the flip keypad, are all lit while the screen appears to be off?

From an evolutionary point of view the P1 is an M600 with added features that do not even require to be a smartphone (camera, WiFi, memory). This does not exclude that it occupies the same marketing niche that the P990 was intended for.

It does look interesting without the flip. It would be nice to have it with a longer screen, same width, similar to the p910i where things like movies have a much better view including landscape. It might make battery life less though with a much larger screen.
The thing is though if they are putting back the flip how will they fit it all including the QWERTY KB?
Interesting!

Well that's the thing - Flip on, it seems almost identical to the P1 or M600 - with a rocker-style Qwerty keyboard below and a standard, full-size UIQ3 screen above. Flip off, and you appear to have no keyboard at all, but a long narrow screen that's all the wrong dimensions for UIQ3. Either it's switching to some odd new format of UIQ we've not seen before (a kind of "stretched" version perhaps), or not all of what looks like screen is actually screen...
It looks a little as if the screen is covered with hard plastic rather than soft, like the W960... that could mean that the actual screen doesn't run the full length, and there's something else underneath the plastic on the bottom third of the phone... like some kind of illuminated touch sensitive key arrangement?

Very intriguing indeed... The lighting and symbols on both pics make you wonder! One looks like the classic 'Home' button in the form of a house?!

Precisely...but Boinng seem to have trouble to accept this...
SE says, in public, the P1 is the 5th generation P series, because the P990 affaire went wrong, and the P1 is a way to heal SE smartphone reputation, untill the true P990 successor is ready
However, INTERNALY at SE, they do not view the P1 has the P990 proper sucessor.
So, Boinng, if you have acess to anyone inside SE, please talk with him and ask about this subject...it would make you good

I'm good enough, thanks
Ares, why don't you ask your friends in SE if the next P series phone is going to have a P1-style rocker keypad on it's flip? Enquiring minds would like to know, especially those waiting for the true P1 successor!

OT, but a point to consider:
The elongated screen in the flip-off pic, could well be, say, 800x352pixels....
As we all know S60 already supports AND runs this res in the E90......
