Thats the problem with hard disk MP3 players too many moving parts. Solid state is the only way to go.

Too many moving parts? What about aeroplanes, they have a lot of moving parts but they seem to work ok.

LOL! Sooner or later we'll have plenty of solid state memory.

Liquid state memory would be pretty cool.

Hmmm, there are some odd opinions here about the ipod.

I have a P900 and 40gig ipod. Ive always got the ipod pumping out tunes. I have 2500 songs on mine and i use the rest of the space to back up my hard disk etc or transfer stuff from mates computers in a matter of minutes. Transfers 1 gig in a little over a minute.

Being able to store 2 or 3 albums on the P900 is crap when ur used to having all ur music.

itunes is fantastic. Transfered my whole music collection to my ipod in a little over 10 min. Thats 2500 songs remember! If i change my music collection or add a new playlist, itunes can see that it is now different to what is on the ipod and updates it automattically.

It's an obvious thing to say but id want both. But if push came to shuv, id rather keep the ipod and have a shitter phone to be honest.

Hope this helps?

Cant be bothered to read all of the messages so someone may have pointed this out to 'The Glass Jaw', but the ipod is a hard disk also! I have 2500 songs on my ipod and over 150 episodes of the simpsons on it to! Plus a load of films also.

So many people write notes claiming they know what they are talking about but a lot really dont. You said you've done reseach therefore we should pretty much kiss your ass but u dont seem to be any good at it. The ipod isnt perfect. I have one. You can get more reliable ones with better battery life. But it is the most compact for its storage size and the most user friendly. Plus its the best looking.
