sorry if this has been said before... Iīm a proud owner of a s868... just bought a superslim battery with 880mAh (compared to the original 650mAh, the old one was worn out... now it should be posible to use for more than the claimed 50 hours standbytime)... Anyway... just took the phone apart (to see if i could change the LEDS to white)... and i found out some secrets
1. It has a antenna guard, for the oldschool antennas you can pull out!
2. The hardware (pcb) is COMPLETLY identical with the one found in SH888! It even has an IRdA inside.. guess one could flash it to a SH888
3.then i have a question: theres is piece of tin which is held in place by the lower left screw.. whatīs that for??

Thank u too! iīve been folowing ericsson some years before the merger, therefore iīve read the most of this thread! itīs very nice thing that someone tries to keep good old ericsson alive!
Anyway, we can conclude at least one thing:
Itīs not at all "a Nokia" to make the same model in different housings, ericsson where first (as always):
s868 is common to sh888
t10 is common to t18 (except for the auto answering)
and of course t610 ->630 ...
did I forget something?

thx for your comment, nice to see a new freak here. but back to biz. indeed, the older /// fones was a on a way similar in design, i mean mainly the square look. but thats what i love in them, i have tha feeling to have a fone in my hand. i was happy to recognize at t630 the gh337 and gh388, some other /// as well, the keypad design.

youīre definitly right about the square.... i also love them, because they once were made in sweden... and if I remember right, some of them where even made in denmark (where I come from)... they where made in the city Pandrup in nothern Jutland, by Flextronics (who now makes the bluetoothheadset, think its bluespoon... they also make the Kiss DVD players).. Flextronics has also made Bosch phones (now Siemens...) Also... Bluetooth is named after the famous danish King Harald Blåtand (in english Bluetooth) I remember when ericsson launhed bluetooth... the were some sort of a flash presentation, with some vikings an so on....

Latest addition to my collection of previously owned phones, GH 198
(and SE T630, ///R310s, ///S868) didnīt have my Siemens S55 and T39m here unfortunately, so the "collection" isnīt complete in the picture.
Got the GH198 for SKR 290:- seems to be working just fine so far!
