no i think not.
The worlds first commercial smartphone the R380s was bassed on today's symbian. And the symbian os (uiq) is still the best smartphone OS.
The X1 is a smartphone that will exist along side the symbian smartphones.
Little detail: Todays Symbian is based on EPOC and the Ericsson R380 is based on EPOC, not on Symbian

Symbian is not just based on Epoc, it is Epoc

Psion became Symbian in 1998 when they teamed up with

, Motorola and Nokia. Then when Release 6 of Epoc came it got the name Symbian OS.
R380 is based on the Release 5.1 of Epoc.

@Boba: It is no special design. The A1028sc was released as shown on this picture. The original box contains each of the exchangeable front panel parts twice: A silver and a blue top part aswell as a silver and a blue keypad part. If you combine both silver parts, it looks more like a R320 Titan
However, one can be happy if he's got one non-broken front panel set: These plastic parts are pretty fragile and may break as soon as you try to remove them. This is probably the reason why the A1028sc became rare, even in asian countries: People just threw their old phones away when they had no panels left.
As rare as the A1028sc is the A1228 Shelby. This is the only unit I have found so far on ebay. A friend from the states promised me a complete boxed one but unfortunately it arrived in a common A1228 box with a non matching ESN, so I won't add it to my collection.
